Millimeter and Fractional Sizes

Finishes for Round Bar

Hot Rolled – 

Hot Rolled is one of the most common finishes in a round bar above 3-inch diameter. Hot rolled material tends to run oversize and has turning or grooves on the surface of the OD of material. 

Annealed Cold Drawn – 

Using annealed cold-drawing process results in a superior finish, tighter tolerances, microstructure alterations, mechanical properties, and machining characteristics. The annealing process affects the mechanical properties of Tensile and Yield strength. Applying heat reduces the product’s internal stresses. The annealing process can occur before, during (in between passes), or after the cold drawing process.

Cold Finish – 

The cold finish extends the procedures of cold drawing and hot rolling. Cold finished process restricts arranging the steel in a single direction. Material that has been cold-finished has a tighter tolerance than Hot Rolled material.

Smooth Turned Bright Finish – 

Bright annealing is a procedure that results in a smoother finish and tighter tolerances. 

Centerless Ground – 

Centerless Ground material offers a superior product with finish consistency and tight tolerances. Ameralloy can offer many finishes and close tolerances in centerless ground material. 

Pump Shaft – 

Ameralloy stocks Pump Shaft material in many sizes, grades, and lengths. We take pride in offering material with superior finish and straightness.

Bearings Shaft – 

Material has centerless ground and runs undersize. Material supplied on the smaller size makes it easier to install bearings over the OD of the material.
