Stainless steel 15-5Ph steel is as a ferrite-free form of 17-4Ph. Stainless 15-5 is a high martensitic stainless steel with no ferrite and is ideal for a wide range of industrial applications. Characteristics of 15-5Ph
Chemical –
Iron, which constitutes the majority of 15-5, gives the material its strength. Because it contains 75% iron, it is resistant to high-pressure levels and can also be worked at very high temperatures during the machining process. The presence of 14.5 percent chromium results in a significant improvement in the material’s resistance to corrosion.
Machining –
The low hardness of the steel makes it very amenable to machining. To properly prepare the alloy for welding, it must first be created in overaged conditions. After being annealed at 1900 degrees, it should be treated at a lower temperature to get maximum strength. The chemical makeup of steel is altered by adding trace amounts of nickel, copper, manganese, and silicon, as well as several other metals, to improve the material’s general resistance to chemicals.
